(340 words) “There is a Russian spirit, there it smells of Rus” - wrote the great classic of Russian literature, Alexander Pushkin. So he characterized the magical land, Lukomorye, where the miracles described by him took place, where good prevailed over evil, and love triumphed. But what was the point he put in these lines? What is the power of the incomprehensible “Russian spirit”? The poet sang it in his fairy tale "Ruslan and Lyudmila", showing a brave and persistent hero. To this day, we cannot always find the words to describe our national character and its main features.
In my opinion, Pushkin amazingly accurately described the advantage of the Russian people. They are true to the word and feeling, as, for example, Lyudmila in captivity at Chernomor. The girl had the strength to resist the wizard and not succumb to his entreaties. She was not afraid of the threats and hardships of captivity. We meet such traits outside of a fairy tale. For example, the wives of the Decembrists followed their husbands to Siberia, having lost all their amenities, titles and honors. They even left the children in the care of their parents in order to support the spouses and share their suffering. Is this not the strength of a devoted and selfless Russian woman? Already, as another poet, Nikolai Nekrasov, wrote, "she will stop the galloping horse and enter the burning hut."
Ruslan was also distinguished by courage, determination and fortitude. His advantage is courage and integrity of character. If he decided, then he would certainly achieve whatever it cost him. So, he went for the stolen bride, not afraid of the competition of other knights, the wrath of Lyudmila's father, the wiles of magicians and sorceresses. On the way, he passed and overcame many trials. But this was not invented by Pushkin, more than once history proved the courage and power of a Russian warrior. For example, the brilliant maneuver of Kutuzov in the war of 1812 conquered the one who captured all of Europe. And our partisan peasants defeated and fled the famous French units, who were simply afraid to spend the night in the woods due to regular raids. For the sake of this victory, ordinary people burned down their entire household, and went into the woods, so long as the enemy did not get anything.
Thus, the strength of the Russian character is in the truth, as the famous hero from A. Balabanov’s film “Brother” said. Both women and men stand to the death for their truth, which consists in moral guidelines: fidelity, patriotism and honor.
