In 1839, Lermontov wrote the poem "Mtsyri". The work is based on the story of a lonely monk, heard by the poet in the Caucasus. For an understanding of how best to shorten a work on paper, see the example. The Literaguru team has prepared for you a very brief summary of Lermontov’s work for the reader’s diary. (360 words) Mtskheta is the oldest capital of Georgia. Here is the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Once a general rode through this city. He kept the path "from the mountains to Tiflis", with him the child of a prisoner rode. The military man realized that he could not bring the sick boy, then he decided to leave him in the monastery.
The monks healed and christened the captive, educated according to Christian laws. Mtsyri, so called the child, got used to captivity and was already preparing to take a monastic vow. Before the triumph, the young man goes missing: he escaped from the monastery. They tried to find the runaway novice for three days.
Soon, Mtsyri was accidentally found by people not in the mountains, but near Mtskheta. The young man was unconscious, he woke up already in the monastery. He immediately began to interrogate him about what had happened. However, he did not say a word. The exhausted fugitive is trying to force-feed, but he does not want food. Everyone understood that he was doing this on purpose, rushing his death. Then an old man came who christened him so that the dying man would fulfill his Christian duty — repent.
Mtsyri is not trying to repent of his actions. On the contrary, he is proud of his insolence. Because only in the wild did he feel life, was an ally with wildlife, like his ancestors. He met a beautiful Georgian woman with a jug and felt the passion he was deprived of in his dungeon. The hero also felt his strength. He fought a leopard without a weapon, defeating him. After that, the young man was convinced that he could be “not from the last daredevils” in his land.
In the wild, memories of childhood return to the young man. He begins to recall his native speech, village, faces of his relatives. For some time a great poet is born in him. Mtsyri enthusiastically talked about the minutes spent in the wild. Only one sin was a burden on his soul. He could not keep his oath: to run away from the monastery and find the way to his native land. It seemed to him that he was following in the right direction, moving east. However, Mtsyri returned to the place from where he fled.
For Mtsyri, a monastery is a prison that weakened him not only physically, but also extinguished spiritual light, the bestial feeling of a mountaineer. Escaping from the walls of the monastery, he realized that the inner prison was not destroyed. Because of this terrible discovery, the thirst for Mtsyri leaves. At birth, he was free, and dies like a humble slave. The hero asks for only one thing - to bury him in the monastery garden, where the Caucasus is visible.
