(288 words) As we all know, the main theme of the novel by I.S. Turgenev's “Fathers and Sons” is a generational problem. Many readers pay much attention to the relationship between Bazarov, Arkady Kirsanov, Nikolai Petrovich and Pavel Petrovich. But female images play a huge role in this work. In total, there are five of them in the novel: Anna Odintsova, Fenechka, Katya Odintsova, Arina Vlasyevna and Eudoxia Kukshina.
Anna Odintsova is the standard of a real noblewoman. She is graceful, smart, beautiful and well-mannered. It was difficult not to pay attention to such a lady, so Bazarov immediately singled her out among others. He loved to walk with her, talk on various topics, and eventually realized that he fell in love. But she could not reciprocate. Anna was afraid of these love feelings.
Bauble is the exact opposite of Odintsova. She is a modest, quiet, fearful and exemplary mother. Fenichka is embarrassed to be in public, and therefore often remains alone. In my opinion, this very heroine can be called a “Turgenev” young lady.
Unlike her sister, Katya Odintsova appears before us an inconspicuous and quiet young lady. She is not distinguished by the mind, but her soul is an open book. It is her love that helps Arkady to reveal himself. Together they create the ideal family that they have been dreaming of for so long.
The image of Arina Vlasyevna causes only positive emotions. She loves her son without a memory and is very proud of him. Arina Vlasyevna cautiously displays her maternal feelings, afraid to be misunderstood by Bazarov. The heroine tries to carefully select the words so as not to anger her son. Unfortunately, Eugene rarely appears in the parental home. Perhaps he is afraid to show his true feelings.
The most negative female image in the novel is Eudoxia Kukshina. She is sloppy, untidy, stupid, although she wants to seem erudite and modern. Eudoxia professes the ideas of nihilism, despite the fact that he does not know anything about him.
Thus, we see that each female image helps to better understand the main characters of the novel. They complement this work, making it holistic.
