(188 words) O.A. Kiprensky is an outstanding portrait master. He brilliantly conveyed personalities and characters on a canvas, his eminent noblewoman and gypsy could become his heroine, and the great poet A.S. Pushkin and a small gardener could become a hero. "Portrait of a boy Chelishchev", written in 1808 - one of the first examples of children's portraits of the XIX century.
Blush cheeks, round face, bright lips - the child expresses well-being. This is emphasized by a white collar that sets off the hero's healthy complexion. It would seem that the offspring of wealthy nobles, what is it interesting in general? However, a sensitive soul is expressed in his eyes, the boy looks thoughtfully into the distance, into his future, what will it be? No one knows yet. We, the descendants, can trace the fate of the hero. Chelishchev’s eyes didn’t lie, because he really became a noble man: he selflessly defended his homeland during the Patriotic War of 1812, was fond of the ideas of the Decembrists, understanding the value of freedom.
The atmosphere of thoughtfulness and focus on the inner world of the hero is also supported by a restrained color scheme. The red vest is the only color accent, the other colors are muted. Brightness is useless here, freshness and beauty are the result of the youth and purity of the hero.
This picture is interesting in that it shows the inner world of the child, his soul. Children are not stupid creatures; they are able to think and feel no worse than adults, as the artist has expertly proved.
