(278 words) It is difficult to imagine military literature without the poem by Alexander Twardowski "Vasily Terkin." It was in this work that the writer created a unique image of a Russian soldier, which is the embodiment of the whole nation in the war years. How did Turkin behave on the battlefield, since he forever remained a national hero?
Basil is not a specific person, but an integral image of the people. The hero is distinguished by a good sense of humor, heroism, strength and courage. He wholeheartedly loves his homeland and is ready to give everything for its salvation. Turkin never despairs. Basil often encourages colleagues and gives them practical advice. The hero does not forget for a minute that he must defend the Fatherland with honor and dignity. Yes, the war is filled with grief, death and pain, but he believes that the fight must be to the end. Vasily remembers his mission and tries to fulfill it impeccably. Terkin seeks to glorify, praise Smolensk region, his native land. He does not pursue the ranks - a soldier would be glad and “agree to a medal”, but this is not necessary, because Vasily is distinguished by his love for people, for the sake of them he risks himself. He pities everyone and tries to help, either in word or in deed. It is this trait that fellow heroes like.
Turkin is a real hero who is not afraid of difficulties and dangers. Recall the episode with a rifle when Vasily shot down an enemy plane on his own, or the scene of a battle with a German. Everywhere a fighter appears before us as a real Russian hero. The chapters “Crossing” and “On the Road to Berlin” occupy a special place in the poem, as they describe our Vasily even brighter and more colorful.
Thanks to the skill and talent of Twardowski, the image of Terkin magnifies our country. It is on such honest, courageous and decent people that the whole world holds. Vasily Terkin is an example of a real person whom one must always follow. And the more such people there are, the better life will be in society!
