Han First Minister Xiao He speculates that the Qi Wang Han Xin, who has too much power, can become dangerous for the state. He consults with the commander Fan Quai. He, clearly envious of the merits of Han Xin, offers to eliminate him. Xiao He decides on a false pretext to call Han Xin to the capital and execute him. However, dignitary Zhang Liang (zhengmo) does not agree with this. He praises Han Xin, says that the reprisal against Han will cause discontent among the people. To all the arguments of Zhang Liang, Xiao He replies with one: "Han can become dangerous afterwards." Having exhausted the arguments, Zhang Liang decides to retire from the yard.
After receiving an invitation to the court, Han Xin consults with his close Kuai Wen-tung. He begs Han not to go to the capital, but to follow the example of Zhang Liang - to go to the hermits. But Han Xin is confident in himself - his merits are so great, the emperor appreciates him so much - and therefore decides to go. Quiay remains, citing the need to take care of the old mother.
Having lured Han Xin, Xiao He seeks his execution. However, he is not calm yet - Kuai Wen-tun remained. According to rumors, he went crazy. Xiao He sends Sui He to check whether Qui is really out of his mind, or to bring him to the capital otherwise. Quiay walks the streets, chased by the boys, making incoherent speeches. But in the evening, returning to the sunset, where he lives, Quiay pours out his grief over the dead Han Sin. Sui He listens to him and exposes the imaginary madness. Kuay have to go to the capital.
Xiao He convenes princes and dignitaries to kill Kuay. A tripod with boiling oil is ready. They bring Kuaya - he is ready to die immediately. Once the most honored people are executed, why should he live? Under the guise of listing the “sins and stupidities” of the executed Han Xin, he talks about his exploits and devotion. His behavior is justified by the proverb about "the dog of the tyrant Jie, barking at the wise No." Touched by his speech, dignitaries led by Xiao He cry, repenting of the haste of their actions. The messenger of the emperor appears. It turns out that the emperor also regrets his baseless suspicions; he rehabilitates Han Xin, forgives Kuai’s disobedience and gives him a position. However, Quai does not want to serve anymore.
