: Because of the intrigues of the envious, the innocent young queen and the prince are thrown into the ocean. They find themselves on a deserted island, where the prince rescues a sorceress, marries her and with her help reunites with his father.
The division of the retelling into chapters is conditional.
The Marriage of King Saltan
The three sisters imagined what they would do if they became queens. The first sister would like to make a feast for the whole world, the second - to weave canvases on the whole world, and the third - to give birth to a king-son of a hero. King Saltan overheard this conversation and invited the sisters to his palace.
Saltan - a glorious king, simple, hospitable and kind
He made his first sister a cook, the second a weaver, and the third he took as his wife.
The cook is the first sister, envious and vicious
The weaver is the second sister, envious and vicious
The Queen - the third sister, the young wife of Saltan
Secret conspiracy
Saltan left to fight in distant lands, and the tsarina gave birth to him a powerful son and sent a messenger with joyful news.
The cook and weaver envied her sister and, together with the old Babarikha, decided to lime the queen.
Babarikha is an elderly schemer, presumably the mother of three sisters or a relative of Saltan
They intercepted the messenger, gave him a drink and exchanged the tsarina’s letter for another, which stated that the king had a freak child:
The queen gave birth to the night
Not a son, not a daughter;
Not a mouse, not a frog,
And to the unknown animal.
After reading this message, Saltan was angry and wanted to hang the messenger, but then relented and passed the order: "wait for the king to return for a legal decision."
The weaver, the cook and Babarikh again fed the messenger and replaced the letter with the order to drown the queen with her son. The distressed boyars did not dare to disobey the tsar’s order, put the queen and her son in a large barrel, tarred it and threw it into the ocean.
Wonderful salvation from a barrel
The little prince, growing "not by the day, but by the hour", asked for a wave so that she would not destroy him with her mother, but would throw them on land. The wave obeyed and carried the barrel to a deserted island. The mighty prince knocked out the bottom of the barrel, made an onion from oak and went to get dinner for himself and his mother.
Tsarevich saves the white Swan
By the sea, he saw an evil kite trying to kill a white swan, and shot him with a bow.
The rescued swan said that in reality she is not a swan, but a “maiden”, and a kite is an evil sorcerer. As a reward for her salvation, she promised to pay the prince good and flew away.
Swan - a young sorceress in the guise of a white swan, kind, affectionate, sensitive and beautiful, presumably the daughter of a sea king
Reign in a new city
In the morning the prince saw a big beautiful city in front of him and immediately realized that this miracle was created by Swan.
The townspeople met him as a coveted prince, and the prince with the permission of his mother began to rule the new city, named Guidon.
Gvidon Saltanovich - the son of Tsar Saltan, the good, glorious and mighty hero, the hospitable prince of the new city, respects his mother and misses his father
Merchants passing by were surprised to see a rich city with a marina on a once empty island. Gwidon cordially welcomed the guests, and the merchants said that they were returning home, "to the kingdom of the glorious Saltan."
Guidon's first flight
Guiding the merchants, Gwidon was sad. Swans who came to him, he admitted that he would like to see his father, and she turned the prince into a mosquito. The prince-mosquito caught up with the merchant ship and sailed on it to the kingdom of Saltan.
The king invited the trading guests to the palace, and after them Gwidon flew there.Saltan began to ask the merchants what miracles they had seen, and they told him about the city that miraculously appeared on a deserted island, and about his prince Guidon.
The king wanted to visit a wonderful island, but the weaver, cook and Babarikh did not want to let him go. The cook said that the city on the island is not a miracle at all, there are more interesting miracles in the world. For example, a squirrel living under a magic spruce that sings songs and nibbles nuts with emerald kernels and a golden shell.
The cook’s speeches angered the prince, a mosquito, he bit his aunt in his right eye, and she "hoarse." Servants screaming began to catch the mosquito, but he flew out the window and returned home.
At home, the prince told Swans about a wonderful squirrel and that he would like to have this miracle in his city. The swan fulfilled his desire. The prince built a crystal house for the squirrel and put a guard and clerk to her, "a strict account of the nuts of the news."
Guidon's second flight
Soon, the merchants again visited Gwidon and told Saltan about the magical squirrel, which brought great wealth to the city. The weaver said that they would not surprise them with gnawing pebbles, or whether the matter was thirty-three heroes who emerged from the sea “in scales, like the heat of grief”. Prince Gwidon, who was there in the guise of a fly, got angry, buzzed, sat the weaver in her left eye so that she “got crooked”, and returned home.
Swan admitted that these heroes are her siblings. Soon, a new miracle appeared in the city of Prince Gvidon - every day thirty-three heroes began to leave the sea together with their old "uncle" and guard the city.
Guidon's third flight
Merchants arrived on the island again. The prince, turning into a bumblebee, went with them to Tsar Saltan and heard Babarikha declare that people leaving the sea were no miracle. The real miracle is the princess, so beautiful that "you can’t look away."
In the afternoon, the light of God overshadows
Illuminates the earth at night
A month under the scythe shines
And in the forehead the star burns.
But she’s great,
Sails out like a pava;
And as the saying goes,
Like a little river babbling.
The bumblebee prince was angry again, but felt sorry for his “old grandmother” - he stung her not in the eye, but in the nose.
Turning Swans
Swan confirmed to Gwidon that the beautiful princess really is, and advised him to think carefully. The prince replied that it was time for him to marry for a long time, and he was ready to follow the beautiful princess “even for the distant lands”. Then Swan admitted that the beautiful princess - she was the one who went ashore, "started up, shook herself off and turned the princess around."
Having asked blessings from mother, the prince married Swans.
Family reunification
Soon, merchants again sailed to visit Gwidon, but this time the prince remained at home. The merchants, having arrived in the kingdom of Saltan, told the king about the beautiful wife of Prince Guidon. The king could not stand it and began to gather to visit the prince. The weaver, cook and Babarikh did not want to let the king go, but he did not listen to them, and they had to go after Saltan.
Arriving on the island, the king recognized his wife.
The zealous leaped in him!
"What I see? what?
How!" - and the spirit engaged in it ...
The king burst into tears
He hugs the queen
And son, and well done ...
And the weaver, cook and Babarikh hid in the corners. When they were found, they confessed everything, but the king, in joy, did not punish them and "let all three go home."
